NOTE: Throughout the fall semester, we will take a look back at some of the top events in Drew University Athletics occurring on the same date in history.
On Nov. 1, 1997, the Drew University women's soccer team claimed its first conference title, defeating Elizabethtown College with a 1-0 victory in the final of the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) tournament.
Under fourth-year Head Coach
Christa Racine, the Rangers set the tone early in the season, going undefeated (8-0-1) over their first nine games. In the postseason, the team edged Widener 4-3 in the MAC semifinals, then nipped E-town on a cold and rainy day for the conference crown, earning the program's first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division III Championships.
The Blue and Green finished the year with an impressive 17-4-1 record, tying the team record for victories in a season.
