ON THIS DAY: Men's Soccer Wins Inaugural Landmark Conference Title

NOTE: Throughout the fall semester, we will take a look back at some of the top events in Drew University Athletics occurring on the same date in history.

On Nov. 4, 2007, the Drew University men's soccer team captured the inaugural Landmark Conference title, defeating the University of Scranton 2-0 in the LC championship game in Ranger Stadium.

A brilliant free kick in the 14th minute from Greg Zizik C'10 proved to be the game-winner and a chipped tally in the 67th from Andres Callejas' C'09 provided the insurance as Head Coach Lenny Armuth won his seventh conference crown at Drew.

Goalkeeper Jeff Rogers C'11 turned aside all three shots he faced to earn the shutout for the Rangers, who closed out the season with a record of 14-8. As a first-year Division III conference, the Landmark did not receive an automatic berth in the 2007 NCAA Championships, but the Rangers would advance to the ECAC Metro Region Tournament, earning runner-up honors.
