At the time of her induction, Casey O'Brien was the all-time record holder in wins and saves for a goalkeeper in Drew women's lacrosse history. As the backbone of the Rangers' defense, she won 54 games, saved 740 shots and led Drew to an NCAA Division III Sweet Sixteen appearance in 2005. That same year, O'Brien was named to the IWLCA All-America Second Team following a 14-5 record, a 7.53 goals-against average and 191 saves.
She was a model of consistency, playing at least 1,000 minutes between the pipes throughout her four years in Madison, and once ranking No. 1 in the entire nation for most minutes played. Her dependable play in goal earned three consecutive All-MAC First Teams and two straight mentions on the IWLCA Regional All-America lists. O'Brien ranks second all-time with a career 8.28 goals-against average. She qualified for a total of four MAC All-Academic Teams, including two as a member of the Drew field hockey team, where she recorded 11 career wins and 116 saves in nearly 1,500 minutes as a goalkeeper.
Making her name as the last line of defense, O’Brien was at the forefront of one of the most successful periods of Drew women’s lacrosse. The Rangers compiled a 65-24 overall record and an impressive 36-5 mark in the MAC with O’Brien minding the net. In addition to the Sweet Sixteen trip in 2005, O’Brien also helped lead Drew to the MAC title in 2005 and an ECAC Championship in 2004.
