Fairclough was an outstanding performer throughout his riding career at Drew. His biggest accomplishment came during his junior campaign, when he won the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Cacchione Cup National Championship – the highest honor a collegiate rider can attain. He won a ribbon as a top-six finisher in every horse show in which he competed throughout his time at Drew, claimed multiple IHSA Regional Championships in Open Flat and Open Fences divisions, and was the IHSA Regional Cacchione Cup champion in 2008 before going on to win the national title.
