Grilo established himself as one of the top goalkeepers in program history while helping the Rangers to four consecutive winning seasons, capped by back-to-back ECAC titles. At the time of his Hall of Fame induction, he still held Drew records for save percentage in a season (.685, 1999), saves in a career (690), and saves in a game (32). When he graduated, he also held team records for goals-against average in a season (7.16, 1999) and career (9.02) and ranked second in both categories as well as career save percentage (.657) at the time of his induction. Grilo was a First-Team All-MAC selection during both his junior and senior years, when the team won a then-school record 12 games each season. He was also named to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division III North/South Senior All-Star Game. Post-collegiately, he played professionally for the Philadelphia Barrage and was a member of the Portuguese National Team, serving as a team captain in 2014.
