Milton L. Winch was Drew's first All-American student athlete in basketball, earning that distinction after the 1940-41 season when, as co-captain, he helped lead the team to a 12-3 record. His four seasons with the team were winners. Milt held Drew's basketball scoring records during his Drew career. During the 1938-39 season Milt tied a school record of 203 points in the final game of the season. That year the Circuit Riders were 13 and 2 and undefeated at home.

In the 1939/40 season Milt broke his own 203 mark with 224 points. He set other team records by averaging 16 points per game, scoring 97 percent of his field goals, scoring 32 points in one game, and scoring 20 or more points in four games. In 1941 he topped his own high-scoring record of 224 points with a new Drew record of 230.

Baseball was also Milt's specialty. A shortstop, Milt was part of the famed double-play combination of Newcomb and Winch that helped the Circuit Riders achieve records of 7-5, 11-4, and 8-3. In addition to several years on "Doc" Young's ball team, Milt played with a semi-professional team in Watertown, NY, between his junior and senior years.

During his days as an undergraduate Milt also found time to participate in such non-athletic activities as the international club and to serve as a freshman adviser. During his senior year he was the social chairman of Faulkner House and was elected class vice president.
