Sayre established herself as one of Drew's top equestrian competitors as an undergraduate and went on to dominate the field, earning multiple national championship titles in the Alumni division. She qualified for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone 2 Finals and National Championships in 1991 and 1993, when she also earned the region's year-end High Point Rider award which qualified her to compete in the elite Cacchione Cup Finals. She was honored as Team MVP in 1993. As a senior in 1994, she capped off her Drew career with the rare feat of qualifying for the IHSA national finals in just the first half of the year-long season. At the time of her induction, Sayre held a Drew and an IHSA record as the most decorated rider in University history, qualifying for the IHSA national finals in both the undergraduate and alumni divisions an unprecedented 11 times.
