Taylor Tames Bears for Fourth Win
Box Score
MADISON, N.J. (April 29, 2011) –
Alex Taylor ( North Brunswick, N.J./North Brusnswick) earned his team-high fourth-victory of the season in a 9-1 win over St. Joseph's-Brooklyn (5-23) in their home finale. The Rangers have won their last five non-conference games at home and pick up their eleventh win of the year.
Taylor had plenty of offensive support, the most since the 10-3 victory over Lehman back on March 17th. The Rangers trailed 1-0 after three innings and finally got on the scoreboard in a big way in the bottom of the fourth.
The Rangers led off the inning with three-straight singles leaving the bases loaded for
Peter Tuchol (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) who delivered a two-RBI single down the left field line. After
Michael Bodden (Toms River, N.J./Monsignor Donovan) and a sacrifice fly by
Steven DeBonis (Hamilton, N.J./Nottingham) the Rangers had a five-run advantage.
The run support was more than Taylor needed, as he went into the ninth inning surrendering only four hits and struck out six Bears.
Drew (11-24-1) added three more runs in bottom of the seventh with the help once again from Tuchol. The junior matched his career-high, third RBI of the game with his second single of the afternoon to put the Rangers up 6-1.
The Rangers 5-6-7 hitters,
Benny Lyman (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central),
Drew Obergfell (Cranford, N.J./Roselle Catholic) and Tuchol, combined to go 5-for-12 with three runs scored and three RBI.
The Rangers will wrap up their 2011 season tomorrow on the road against Lancaster Bible at 1:00 PM.
