Gagliano Voted the Top Offensive Player, 5 are All-League

TOWSON, Md. (November 7, 2012) – Junior Brooke Gagliano (Freehold, N.J./Freehold Twp.) was voted the Landmark Conference Offensive Player of the Year this afternoon, the league office announced. A program-record, four of the five players honored today were First Team All-Conference honorees.

The two teams in the conference championship, Catholic and Drew, each placed a league-high five players on both First and Second Team. Gagliano becomes the third Drew field hockey player in five seasons under Head Coach Felicia Cappabianca to be voted Landmark Conference Offensive Player of the Year. In 2008 Liz Law was voted Offensive Player of the Year while Kati Eggert took home the honor in 2010.

Gagliano had a breakout year for the Rangers, more than doubling her goals and point production. A first-time All-Conference selection, Gagliano led the Landmark in goals and points through conference games with nine goals and four assists. She finished the regular season with four multi-goal games including a hat trick against Susquehanna.

First Team All-Landmark
Brooke Gagliano- The junior midfielder played in every game for the Rangers and scored 15 regular season goals. Her 18 total goals, including postseason, is the ninth most ever by a Drew field hockey player in a season. She was responsible for all three of the Rangers postseason goals in their run to the Landmark Conference Championship game.

Sarah Charles (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris) -Charles led the league through the regular season with 16 goals including two hat tricks against Stevens and Susquehanna. She has earned First Team honors for the first time after she was named to the Second Team in 2010. She is currently ranked 10th all-time with 37 career goals.

Bea Cannavale (Branchville, N.J./High Point)- Cannavale has been praised for her transition game while racking up 11 regular season assists to tie for the conference-high. She was the only freshman to earn First Team All-Conference honors.

CC Carlini (Amherst, N.H./Bishop Guertin) – The junior earned First Team honors for the first time in her career. She finished the regular season with a 1.53 goals against average and .833 save percentage while posting four shutouts. Carlini is currently ranked 11th in NCAA Division III for save percentage.

Second Team All-Landmark
Danielle Waleko (Wainscott, N.Y./East Hampton) – The first year transfer made an immediate impact on the Ranger midfield. She started every game for the Rangers this season and had a team-high 11 assists. She was third on the squad with four goals including game-winners against Moravian and Goucher.

The Drew field hockey team will compete in the ECAC Tournament on Thursday afternoon in Annville, Pa. For the second time this season the Rangers will take on Lebanon Valley as the seventh seed.
