Brian Eberly

Brian Eberly enters his fourth season as the head baseball coach at Drew University in 2024-25.

Eberly led the Rangers to a breakthrough season in 2024. The squad finished 22-18 – a seven-win improvement from their record one year earlier and the team's best record since the 2017 squad finished 26-16. The team also improved its conference record by 11 victories, finishing 13-11 versus Landmark opponents. Drew finished fifth in the Landmark Conference standings to earn its first conference playoff appearance in a non-Covid season since 2017 as Eberly and his staff were honored as the Landmark Conference Coaching Staff of the Year. The squad made its mark as a strong offensive squad once again, finishing second in school history in doubles (73), tied for second in triples (15), tied for fourth in home runs (17), tied for fourth in stolen bases (65), tied for eighth in RBIs (209), and eighth in walks (165). In addition, the Rangers posted the fourth-best (tied) fielding percentage in team history at .960.

Along with outstanding team achievements, the Rangers also garnered numerous individual accolades under Eberly's tutelage in 2024. The team captured five All-Landmark Conference selections - the most since the 2017 - while Anthony Diaz C'25 and Raiden Yost C'25 earned a spot on the D3baseball.com All-Region Team. In addition, Anthony Hernandez C'25 and Dallas Lorenzetti C'25 were selected to the ABCA Division III Region 5 All-Defensive Team. Off the field, 18 Rangers earned a spot on the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll, including three who also landed College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team recognition.

In 2023, the Rangers continued to improve under Eberly's guidance, as the squad won five more games and increased its winning percentage by .136 points from the previous season. The team also opened with one of its best starts in recent memory. The Blue and Green set a school record for the longest winning streak (during one season) when they won nine straight games, posting a 9-1 record to start the year. The Rangers finished among the top-10 in program history in numerous statistical categories, including runs scored (second), home runs (second), RBIs (second), doubles (third), hits (tied for fourth), slugging percentage (eighth), and stolen bases (tied for 10th). Off the field, 20 Rangers earned a spot on the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll, including five who were named to the CSC Academic All-District Team.

In his first season at the Forest, Eberly guided the Rangers to a 10-game improvement in terms of victories from the 2021 season. Additionally, he guided the team to its eighth-highest fielding percentage (.952) in team history, with one player setting the school record for single-season assists. Additionally, he coached 13 players who earned a spot on the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll, including one who was also named to the CSC Academic All-District Team.

Eberly came to Drew after serving as the Head Baseball Coach and Coordinator of Athletic Events and Facilities at nearby County College of Morris (CCM) for 12 years. A former NCAA Division II student-athlete, he became just the 15th head coach in Drew baseball history and only the fourth since 1984.

At CCM, Eberly inherited a program which had qualified for postseason play just once in its previous 10 seasons and turned it into a consistent winner and regional power.

Excluding the COVID-shortened 2020 season, the Titans captured the Garden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) championship in three of its last four full seasons in 2021, 2019, 2017, with Eberly being named GSAC Coach of the Year each year. He was also named the National Junior College Athletic Association Region 19 Coach of the Year in 2017.

The Titans spent significant time in the national rankings during Eberly’s tenure, beginning with a final ranking of No. 19 after the 2016 season. The team earned its highest mark (No. 4) in 2017, when it finished the season with a 41-8 record and a No. 8 national ranking.

Eberly became the winningest coach in CCM history during the 2018 season, and his teams averaged over 31 wins per year over his last four full seasons. He coached 21 players who moved on to the NCAA Division I ranks and three Major League Baseball draft picks.

Eberly’s resume includes experience as an Associate Scout for the Atlanta Braves, and he has also coached in the collegiate summer ranks with the Jersey Pilots of the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League. Prior to his time at Morris, he coached at the high school level at Roxbury (N.J.) High School.

A 2002 graduate of Lock Haven University, Eberly played four seasons as an infielder for the Bald Eagles. During his time at LHU, he was named a team captain and a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete while twice helping the school set school records for wins. Additionally, Eberly earned a master’s degree in Educational Administration from the University of Scranton.

Eberly resides in Mount Olive with his daughters, Raelynn and Alexa.
