The
Drew Equestrian Team competes yearly in the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA), which is composed of colleges and universities from around the country. Training is conducted at
Seaton Hackney Stables in Morristown, N.J., located just minutes from Drew's campus. The team is open to riders of all levels.Â
The program has a storied history of champions. In 1989,
Archie Cox C '91 became Drew's first national champion by placing first in the Open Equitation in the Flat division. In 2008,
James Fairclough II C '09, became the national collegiate equestrian champion, the first ever for a Drew rider.
Peter Leone C '84 represented Drew University in the 1996 Summer Olympics as a member of the silver medal winning team USA. Lastly,
Sandra Sayre C '94Â held a Drew and an IHSA record as the most decorated rider in University history, qualifying for the IHSA national finals in both the undergraduate and alumni divisions an unprecedented 11 times.

The Women’s Rugby Club has been successful throughout its 15 year existence. The club competes in intercollegiate matches as a member of the USA Rugby Union. The only requirement for membership is a tough spirit. In 2007 and 2008 the club competed in the Metropolitan NY Playoff and lost close games with Vassar College and Stony Brook, respectively. The Men’s Rugby Club was founded at Drew University in 1971. The team plays a full schedule of intercollegiate competition as a member of the USA Rugby Union, traveling to matches and tournaments all over the Atlantic Seaboard. The club offers prospective members an outlet for tough physical play on the field and social camaraderie off the field. The rugby club helps to instill a passion for the game and helps prepare its members for life after college by allowing players to practice teamwork, time management, leadership, and physical and mental toughness. The Drew Cheer Team knows how to bring the spirit on campus! They are made up of a group of energetic Drew students who choreograph and perform fast-paced dance and cheer routines during halftime of men’s and women’s basketball games.
