Julia Steier was announced as the Head Women's lacrosse coach in August of 2012. Prior to taking over the program at Drew, Steier spent three seasons as an assistant at Division I Sacred Heart University.
She led the Rangers to eight wins and a playoff appearance in her first season. Three of her players earned All-Conference and All-Region honors. Sophomore Nikki Kleiman broke the school's single season scoring record and was named the Landmark Conference Player of the Year.
While on staff at Sacred Heart, the Pioneers won two Northeast Conference Regular Season Championships and a conference title in 2010, earning them a spot in the NCAA Tournament play-in game. In three seasons Steier was a part of the coaching staff that received Coach of the Years honors in 2010 and had 11 All-Conference selections, including one Player of the Year and one Goalkeeper of the Year. Sacred Heart posted a record of 23-7 in Steier's time as an assistant.
Prior to her tenure at Sacred Heart, Steier helped turn around an 0-15 Wilkes team to a 9-8 squad in just two seasons. While at Wilkes she was responsible for coordinating the offense and dramatically improved offensive production from 147th in the country to 27th.
Steier also spent her playing days in the Northeast Conference, starring at Central Connecticut State. She served as the team's captain her senior year and currently ranks second all-time in assists. Upon graduation she owned three different scoring records and ranked second in program history in draw controls. In the classroom she was recognized as a three-time Northeast Conference Honor Roll member.
