Norm Hewitt joined the Drew University baseball staff in the summer of 2014 as an assistant coach and pitching coach for the Rangers. He brings 42 years of experience to the program and is one of New Jersey's all-time winningest high school coaches. He was the head coach at Drew in 1981 and posted a 17-7 record.

Hewitt began coaching baseball at Hillsborough High School when they opened their doors in 1969, and eventually led the Raiders to a conference title in 1977 and two Somerset County Tournament titles in '77 and '79. During that time, the Raiders appeared in five SCT finals and were ranked No. 2 in New Jersey in 1977. Since returning to Hillsborough in 2000, Hewitt has taken the Raiders to six additional SCT finals, winning the crown in 2005, 2012 and 2014. The Raiders have also added some credible feats such as Skyland Conference titles in 2003, '04, and '06.  In 2005, the Raiders captured the most prestigious crown of all, the New Jersey Group 4 State Championship, and were ranked No. 2 in the state.

In his only season at Drew University, Hewitt guided the Rangers to a new seasonal win record, and booked the first winning season in 26 years in Madison. He went on to serve as the pitching coach of Rutgers University in 1982 and '83. In 1986, Hewitt took over the reins at Bridgewater Raritan High School. From 1987-1999, the Falcons and Panthers won six conference titles, two SCT titles, a Group 2 State Championship in 1989, and appeared in five SCT finals. In all, Hewitt has guided his teams to 17 Somerset County Finals.
