Knights Upset Drew, 60-48

0158wbsktblThe Drew University Rangers fell to the Arcadia Knights, 60-48, last night in Glendside, PA.  Ranger senior, Jessica Del Vecchio led Drew with 10 points in the loss as they fell to 13-11 on the year.  The Knights were led by senior Kim Milligan, who scored 20 in her collegiate finale.   Arcadia snapped a 6-game skid and finished their season 6-17.

Drew jumped out to an early 7-0 lead just under 2 minutes in but the Knights fought hard and scored a quick ten points after Ranger freshman Eden Blazovic put Drew up 11-6 with a lay-in.  The Knights continued to battle, using a go-ahead bucket from junior Kelly Donahue at 8:23 putting AU in front 12-11.  Drew would regain a small lead but it would be short-lived as junior Corrine Geiger tied the game at 14 before Milligan hit a jumper to give the lead back to Arcadia 16-14 with 4:51 remaining in the half.  Drew closed the half with a Barber bucket but The Knights would maintain their lead, up 23-18.

Drew came out of the half strong, knotting the score at 24 just under three minutes in with another Barber bucket off a pass from Balzovic.  But the Knights would regain control of the game when freshman Jackie Law found Milligan open, she dished the ball to the senior, waiting at the arc, and drained another long range shot to put the Knights back in front 27-24.  While the Knights would grow their lead to 11, Drew kept coming back, and found themselves down just 3 (43-40) with 3:45 remaining in the game.  But another Milligan three came with 3:28 to play, pushing AU's lead to 6, while her final trey in Alumni Gym found the twine with 1:46 to play, giving the Knights a 9-point spread (49-40) to put the game out of reach.

Milligan and fellow senior, Beth Murray who had 9 points, paced the Knight offense.  Freshman, Angie Adams contributed 9 points and 5 rebounds, Geiger with 8 points and a team high 13 rebounds and 5 blocked shots while Law added 6 points, 9 boards, 3 assists, 3 steals and 3 blocks.

Barber finished with eight points and eight assists.  Junior, Jessica Reid pulled down a team-high, 14 boards..  The Rangers will close out their regular season Saturday Feb. 20th at home against the United States Merchant Marine Academy at 2 pm.  Senior day ceremonies will be held at halftime.
