Rangers Late Attempt Not Enough

Rangers Late Attempt Not Enough

Box Score
MADISON, N.J. ( Januaury 28, 2011) - With 1:17 remaining in the game, freshman Logan Cavanaugh (Rutland, Vt. / Burr and Burton Academy) would pull the game within one after an old fashioned three point play, but it was not enough to surpass the top-ranked Greyhounds. Despite the valiant comeback, the Rangers lost 57-54 in the final seconds.

Drew (8-11, Landmark 1-7) fell behind hot-shooting Moravian ( 12-7, Landmark 7-1) early in the first, but with three minutes remaining in the contest, Victoria Ault ( Middletown, N.J. / Mater Dei) would hit a jumper that sparked the women's final push. The Rangers would surge for a 7-0 run to pull within one with 27 seconds remaining on the clock. As the clock ticked away, Drew was forced to foul and send Landmark's leading scorer Heffner to the line where she put the game out of reach.

Cavanaugh had a career high with 11 points on the evening. Danielle Barber (Cape May Court House, N.J. / Middle Township) was the only other Ranger in double-digits with 13 points.

The ladies of Drew return to action tomorrow in the second conference doubleheader of the weekend. They will take the court at 2:00 pm against the Scranton Royals.
