Box Score
MADISON, N.J. ( January 29, 2011) - Even with three shooters in double figures, the Rangers were unable to catch the number one seeded Royals. From the tip-off Scranton took control of the game and ran with it for it's entirety.
At the start of the game,
Dana Coronato ( Toms River, N.J. / Toms River North) took the ball the length of the court to notch the game at five. For the next ten minutes the teams would go basket for basket keeping the deficit no more than nine, but at 3:11 in the first, Scranton's leading scorer Kopecki converted for two sparking a 7-0 run for the Royals going into the half.
Coming out of the locker room
Victoria Ault ( Middletown, N.J. / Mater Dei) quickly chipped in two of her 11 points of the day. Scranton (14-5, Landmark 8-1) matched the shot and slowly began to pull away. With a minute-thirty remaining
Logan Cavanaugh (Rutland, Vt. / Burr & Burton Academy) knocked down two from the charity strip to pull within 11. As the clock ticked away, the Rangers pulled in as close as nine but there was not enough time to overcome the Royals.
In a game plagued by turnovers, the Rangers were able to keep Kopecki to only 11 points this afternoon. Cavanuagh had a game high with 13 points and
Jess Reid (Nazereth, Pa. / Nazereth Area) reached a season high chipping in 12.
Drew will take a week to prepare for their next Conference Doubleheader versus the Juniata Eagles. The Rangers will return to Baldwin Gym on Friday, February 4th at 5:30 p.m.
