Rangers Can't Recover from Royals Strong Start

Box Score
SCRANTON, Pa. (January 8, 2011) - Coming off a record setting win on Tuesday, the Rangers could not ignite the offense tonight as they suffer their first conference loss on the road. Drew (7-4, Landmark 1-1) trailed for the entire game, unable to catch the Royals strong start.

To start the game, Scranton (8-4, Landmark 2-0) went on an 18-1 run in the first ten minutes and the Rangers were never able to recover. With 3:23 remaining in the first half,
Jennifer Mateo (Union City, N.J. / Union City) dished the ball to Dana Coronato ( Toms River, N.J. / Toms River North) behind the arc that she sunk for a three bringing Drew within seven, which proved to be the closest margin of the game. With ten points, Coronato was the only Ranger in double digits, which she has reached in the past six of her last eight games.

The second half began similar to the first and the Rangers, unable to find the net fell further behind. At 2:45 left in the game, with the greatest margin of 32, Drew went on a 5-0 run but the damage was already done. The ladies of Drew recorded their lowest score of the season with a 63-36 loss.

Despite the outcome, Captain
Jess Reid (Nazareth, Pa. / Nazareth Area) was able to tie her career high five steals in tonights match-up.

The Rangers travel to Moravian College tomorrow and look to improve in Conference play.
