KINGS POINT, N.Y. (January 14, 2012) – The Rangers remain winless against Landmark Conference opponents after losses to Goucher (3-7, 1-4 Landmark) and defending champion Merchant Marine this afternoon. The Mariners defeated the visiting Rangers 66-35 as the Gophers picked up their first conference win with a 60-34 victory.
The Rangers turned in two season-best times courtesy of Michael Ng (Scarsdale, N.Y./Edgemont) and Niklas Andersen (Mendham, N.J./Gill St. Benards). Ng placed fifth in the 50 freestyle despite topping his best time of the year with a 23.78. Andersen had the best swim of his career in the 100 butterfly with time of 1:12.90.
Sophomore Thomas DiGuglielmo (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) was the highest Ranger finisher of the afternoon, touching second in the 100 breastroke with a time of 1:07.79.
Freshman Clayton Curran (Middletown, Conn./Middletown) turned in two, third places in the 200 individual medley and the 100 butterfly to round off the Ranger scoring.
The Rangers will seek their first Landmark win on the road this weekend when they travel to Selinsgrove, Pa. to take on Susquehanna at 1:00 p.m.
