NEWBURGH, N.Y. (December 7, 2012) – The Drew men's swim team evened its record to 3-3 with a pair of wins this evening over Mount St. Mary College(3-3) and York College (N.Y.) (0-6). The Rangers toppled the York Cardinals 83-4 and swam past host Mount St. Mary, 58-37.
Junior
Thomas DiGuglielmo (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) won a team-high two events, in addition to a relay win early on in the meet to lead the Rangers. He has now won seven individual events in his last three meets. He turned in the fastest time in the 100 Butterfly by touching the wall at one minute flat. He also collected a win in the 200 free with a time of 1:56.69.
Drew began the night with a win in the 200 Medley Relay comprised of
Conor Burnett (Cedar Grove, N.J./Cedar Grove), DiGuglielmo,
Austin Goetjen (Simsbury, Conn./Avon Old Farms School) and
Matt Boudreau (Stockbridge, Mass./Monument Mountain Regional). The quartet turned in a time of 1:49.17.
The freshman Burnett, also picked up a win in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 11:12.82. Sophomore
Clayton Curran (Middletown, Conn./Middletown) was top finisher in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 52:04.
Junior
Michael Ng (Scarsdale, N.Y./Edgemont) rounded out the Drew first place finishers, with his first win of the season in the 50 freestyle.
The dual meet season for the Rangers will continue after the New Year when they host a Landmark Conference tri-meet featuring Goucher and Merchant Marine on January 12
th.
