Box Score HUNTINGDON, Pa. (February 16, 2013) – The Drew women's basketball team closed out the 2012-13 season with a 96-48 loss to Juniata College (18-7, 9-5 Landmark). The Rangers finish the year with a 9-16 overall record and a 5-9 record in Landmark Conference play.
The Eagles ran away with ball game in the first 20 minutes of play, outscoring the Rangers 46-17 in the first half. Four Juniata players were in double figures, led by Kate McDonald who scored a game-high 21 points and dished out eight assists. Natalie Hager came off the bench and scored 20 points on 9-of-10 shooting. For the game, the Eagles were lights out, shooting over 60 percent from the floor.
The Rangers were paced by freshman
Courtney Stephens (Pikesville, Md./Gerstell Academy) who scored 19 points and pulled down five rebounds. Senior
Whitney Mackay (Suffield, Conn./Berkshire School) scored 11 points in her final game as a Ranger. As a team, the Rangers were a perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line, including a 5-for-5 effort by Stephens.
The Rangers didn't fare much better in the second half of play, as the Eagles outscored the Rangers 50-31 and shot 58 percent from the floor. Drew had a season-low 25 rebounds, compared to 43 pulled down by the Eagles.
Senior
Jennifer Mateo (Union City, N.J./Union City) recorded her 300
th career assist in the game and had a team-high five in the contest. She finishes 2012-13 with 118 assists, the fifth most ever in a season and her 302 career assists also rank fifth all-time. Mackay hit three, 3-pointers moving her into sole possession of 11
th place all-time in 3-point field goals made with 71.
