Rangers fall at No. 1 FDU-Florham

Box Score FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (Dec. 9, 2014) – The Drew University women's basketball team fell at the defending NCAA Division III champions and No. 1 ranked team FDU-Florham, 88-51, on Tuesday evening in the Battle of Madison Ave.

Sophomore forward Ryan Jackson led the Rangers with her first career double-double, scoring 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting and grabbing 10 rebounds. Senior guard Breana Wilson, a 2012 transfer from FDU-Florham, scored 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting and added six rebounds, three assists and two steals. Drew fell to 5-2 with the loss, while the Devils remained perfect at 8-0.

Drew got off to a quick start with a 7-5 lead spurred by Trzasko's three-pointer. The Devils didn't take control until an 8-0 run started five minutes into the contest and stretched to an 18-5 lead as the defending champs took a 21-12 lead midway through the half.

Wilson and Stephens hit layups on back-to-back possessions for a quick 4-0 run to cut the FDU-Florham lead to 23-18 with less than eight minutes remaining.

Twelve first-half turnovers by the Rangers led to 14 points by the Devils. FDU-Florham on the other hand committed just six turnovers during the opening half, allowing Drew to capitalize on two points off turnovers. The Devils also played exceptional perimeter defense, which shut Drew out of the three-point game as they attempted to chip away at the Devils' lead. Miller and Trzasko each hit their only three-point attempt of the half, but Drew took a total of three attempts from beyond the arc.

Jackson and Wilson led the Rangers in points with a six apiece at half with Drew shooting 10-of-21 from the floor. The Devils countered with a 19-12 advantage in rebounding and shot 18-of-37 from the floor to take the 18-point into the locker rooms.

The second half began with a Miller layup, but the Devils promptly responded with an 11-1 run to take a 20-point lead. FDU-Florham would stretch its lead to as much as 39 with a minute left in the game.

Drew returns to action on Thursday, Dec. 18 at Micericordia University at 2:00 p.m. in a non-conference game.
