Rangers Fall to Greyhounds in Landmark Conference Action

Box Score Bethlehem, Pa. (February 5, 2014) – Drew women's basketball (11-9, 4-5) dropped it's fifth conference game of the season, 83-59 tonight in Johnston Hall on the campus of Moravian College. Moravian (17-3, 8-1) is tied for first in the conference while at 4-5, Drew sits just outside of the top four, in fifth place.

Freshman Hannah Miller (Rumson, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven) led Drew in scoring tonight with 17 points. The freshman phenom added two rebounds and two assists for the Rangers in 33 minutes of action. Sophomore Erin Howard (Tolland, Conn./East Catholic) added 14 points off the bench for Drew in the loss.

Laura Jordan put the Greyhounds on the scoreboard first with a lay-up, and Moravian pushed its lead into double digits, 20-10, with 13:26 left in the first half on a three-pointer by Danielle Brogan. The Greyhounds closed the half on a 27-13 run giving them a 47-23 lead at the break. Howard scored 10 of her 14 in the first half for Drew.

Moravian continued its tough play in the second half opening up with a 14-10 run over the first eight minutes. The Rangers cut the deficit to 22 on a three-pointer from Miller with at the 10:13 mark. Miller scored 14 of her game-high 17 points in the seconds half for the Rangers.

Moravian forward Alesha Marcks led the Greyhounds with 14 points in 15 minutes of action off the bench. Laura Jordan added 11 points, grabbed four rebounds and recorded three blocks in the victory.

Breana Wilson (Irvington, N.J./Berkshire School (Mass.)) scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Rangers in the defeat. Wilson recorded her fourth double-double of the season making her  20th start for the Rangers. Breana added eight assists in the game bringing her just two assists shy of triple-double.

The Rangers return to Baldwin Gym on Saturday February 8, to play the second game of a men's and women's conference double header with Catholic. Tip is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
