Box Score Madison, N.J. (February 8, 2014) – The Drew University women's basketball team suffered it's third consecutive conference loss to Catholic, 86-53 this evening in Baldwin Gym. At 4-6 the Rangers sit in the fifth spot in the conference standings.
Drew was led by Freshman guard
Hannah Miller (Rumson, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven) who scored 15 points. Miller also grabbed three rebounds and added an assists. Classmate
Courtney Trzasko (Berlin, Conn./Berlin) scored 14 points in 21 minutes off the bench for the Rangers.
Catholic started the game on an 8-0 run over the first three minutes. All eight points were scored by the team's leading scorer Emily Grabiak. Grabiak would hit a three-pointer at the 11:55 mark to put Catholic up 19-7. The Rangers answered with a 9-4 run cutting the Catholic lead to just seven, 23-16 with nine minutes left in the first half. The Cardinals closed the half on a 23-6 run, taking a 46-22 lead into the locker rooms.
Catholic kept the pressure on the Rangers as they opened up their biggest led of the game, 76-40 with just six minutes left in the game. The Rangers would come as close as 19 points in the second half but the Catholic defense proved to be too much. Trzasko scored all 14 of her points in the second half.
The Cardinal offense was paced by Josephine Migash who scored 19 points in 24 minutes of action. Emily Grabiak finished the game with 14 points and eight rebounds for Catholic in the win.
Junior guard
Breana Wilson (Irvington, N.J./Berkshire School (Mass.)) scored 10 points in 37 minutes of action for the Rangers. Wilson also grabbed six rebounds and dished out six assists.
The Rangers look to rebound from a tough loss on Wednesday February 12, as they host Scranton in Baldwin Gym at 7:00 p.m. in Landmark Conference action.
