MADISON, N.J. (Sept. 3, 2016) — The Drew University field hockey team dropped an overtime duel with Lebanon Valley College 2-1 despite a strong performance from sophomore goalie
Ryann Callaghan.

Top Performers:Â Callaghan bested her career-high with 21 saves. The performance ranks second all-time in the Ranger record books for saves in a single game.

Madi Sheetz appropriately kicked off the 2016 campaign with a goal. After a long centering lead pass, freshman forward
Audrey Carr kept the ball rolling toward the net when Sheetz took over. She swung and made solid contact, driving the ball into the cage to give Drew a 1-0 lead.

Turning Point:Â Five minutes into the overtime period, the Dutchman surrounded the cage after a long run down the field. They scored to close the book on the day.

Other Highlights:Â The Dutchman managed to even the score halfway through the opening 35.

With just seconds to play in the first half, the Dutchman were awarded a penalty shot. Callaghan lunged to her left and put a body on it, absorbing the shot and keeping the contest deadlocked at 1.Â

At the end of the game, Callaghan made several decisive saves in the closing seconds to force overtime.
