HOBOKEN, N.J. (Feb. 22, 2017) – Senior catcher 
Mike Miraglia's two-run home run in his first at-bat of 2017 set the stage for a dominant 10-0 shutout at Stevens Institute of Technology in the season opener on Wednesday afternoon.
 
By the Numbers 
The Rangers start the season 1-0 for the first time since 2013 and defeat the Ducks (1-2) for the first time since 2009, snapping a six-game skid against the in-state rival.
 
Top Performers
• Miraglia launched his fifth career home run well over the right-center field wall in the top of the first inning, plating junior right fielder 
Ryan Sabbag, who reached base on an error in the season's first at-bat. The senior finished 2-for-3 with two walks, two runs and three RBIs.
• Senior center fielder 
Marc Cohen drove home three runs during a 2-for-3 day at the plate.
• Senior starting pitcher 
Ryan Fitzpatrick starts the season 1-0 after hurling 5.2 innings of shutout baseball with four hits, two walks and three strikeouts.
 
Highlights
• The Rangers added runs in the second and fourth innings on bases loaded walks to Miraglia and freshman designated hitter 
Anthony Tagliaferro, respectively to run the score to 5-0.
• Stevens surrendered a pair of unearned runs in the fifth as Cohen executed an RBI sacrifice bunt and a subsequent error made it 7-0.
• Sophomore shortstop 
Zach Lipshitz knocked in an RBI single in the sixth, followed by Cohen's two-run double to provide all the run support for the day.

Josh Williams (0.1 IP), freshman 
Josh Serin (2.0 IP) and junior 
Joe Dahut (1.0 IP) finished off the shutout out of the bullpen.
