FORT PIERCE, Fla. (March 10, 2017) – The Drew University baseball team had its five-game winning streak snapped on Friday at the Florida Gulf Coast Spring Training with a 9-4 loss to SUNY Maritime.

The Rangers fall for just the second time this season and see their record drop to 7-2. The Privateers move to 4-3 with the win.

Top Performers
• Sophomore shortstop
Zach Lipshitz led Drew at the plate with a 3-for-5 day against Maritime pitching with an RBI double in the fourth inning to plate Drew's first run of the game.
• Senior right fielder
Richie Poland and senior catcher
Mike Miraglia each batted 2-for-5 with an RBI.
• Sophomore reliever
Joshua Williams threw his second straight scoreless inning out of the bullpen, which followed junior
Paul Roth's scoreless 1.2 innings with two hits and a walk.

The Privateers jumped on Drew pitching early for two runs in the first inning and three more in the second for a 5-0 lead.

Highlights
• Down 8-1 in the seventh, the Rangers attempted a comeback with junior second baseman
Isaiah Mateo singling to lead off the inning. He scored on a bases-loaded RBI groundout by Poland with one out, then Miraglia doubled to the left-center field gap to bring Drew within five runs at 8-3.
• Senior left fielder
Mike DiDonato led off the ninth with a walk and scored three at-bats later after a Poland hit and senior designated hitter
Tommy Broyles' RBI infield single.
