LEESBURG, Fla. (March 10, 2017) – Senior center fielder
Phylicia Pellot hit her second career home run as part of a 3-for-7 day that saw the Drew University softball team fall in its final two games at the PFX Spring Games in Florida to Haverford College and Lebanon Valley College.
By the Numbers
The Rangers dropped the opener to Haverford, 8-2, before falling to Lebanon Valley, 13-1, and will return North with a 3-7 overall record. Haverford wrapped up its Florida trip with a 4-4 record, while LVC improved to 7-3.
Top Performers
• Pellot was 3-for-4 against Haverford, which qualified for the NCAA Division III Super Regionals last spring. Her second hit in the game was her second career home run, a two-run shot over the left-centerfield fence to plate senior shortstop
Meghan McGuire, who singled an at-bat earlier.
• McGuire finished her day at the plate 3-for-5 and sees her average creep above .350 after a slow start by her standards. After starting the season 0-for-10 in the first three games, McGuire has hit in seven straight for a .556 average.
• Junior catcher
Heather Ronchi hit in each game on Friday and returns North with 99 career hits. She delivered Drew's lone run against the Dutchmen in Game 2, a two-out infield single in the shortstop hole to plate McGuire.
Notable
• Drew's three home runs this week are already the most round-trippers in a season since 2014 when the Rangers had three throughout that season.
Up Next
Barring possible snowstorms this week, the Rangers are scheduled to return to action on Thursday, March 16 at Montclair State University at 3:30 p.m. for an in-state non-conference doubleheader.
