Women's Lacrosse Season Ends in ECAC Quarterfinals

MADISON, N.J. (May 10, 2017) -- The third-seeded Drew University women's lacrosse team concluded its season after being edged by No. 6 Arcadia University, 13-9, in the quarterfinal round of the Eastern College Athletic Conference championships on Wednesday evening at Ranger Stadium.

Top Performers
• Newly anointed Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year Allie DiDario notched a hat trick in the setback. It was her fourth such performance of the year and put her yearlong total at 28 goals.
• Also contributing a hat trick was junior midfielder Nicole Kinney who proved the conference selection committee right in naming her to the Landmark All-Conference first team. The junior's total for the season stands at 40.
• Senior attacker Anna Fiorini scored in the setback. The goal, which was the last of the game, was her 21st of the year and the 60th of her career.
• Senior attacker Theresa Shafron scored the first goal of the game and it was the 70th of her career and 36th of the year.
• Senior attacker Morgan Mason ended her year on a 10-game goal streak after scoring once in Wednesday's game. Her season total is 43 and her career total, 153.

Highlights
• Despite a Drew rally that occurred at 20 minutes second half and saw a 5-1 run carry over from the first half, to make the score 9-8, Arcadia responded heavily to suppress the Ranger run and pull away with the victory.
• During that crucial stretch, Drew managed to score two woman-up goals, from DiDario and Kinney, while missing a player due to penalty. The scores came within 30 seconds of each other and narrowed the score to 9-7.
• DiDario would score again to bring the Rangers within one but Arcadia finally stamped out the flame by netting four consecutive goals to put the game out of reach.

Stat Sheet
Drew actually outshot Arcadia 24-20 on goal and 34-26 in total. But a valiant effort from the Knights' goalie made sure those tries were all for naught.
• The teams turned the ball over 15 times each and Arcadia didn't seem to be negatively impacted by a 16-for-21 clear percentage. That figure for Drew stood at 10-for-14
• Drew also held the advantage in the draw control realm of the game, earning 14 Arcadia's 10.
