MADISON, N.J. – Freshman Sebastian Alvarez edged out senior Christian Parenti to win a dual meet versus the College of Saint Elizabeth on Tuesday at Giralda Farms.
 
At 4,000 meters, the race was half the distance of a typical men's race and served as a tuneup for the teams' championship season.
 
Alvarez earned his first collegiate victory, clocking a time of 11:55.6 to lead a 1-5 finish for Drew, which defeated the Eagles 15-43. Parenti was less than two seconds behind Alvarez at 11:57.3.
 
Senior Nick Smale (12:59), freshman Tony Pham (13:49), and senior Tony Colbert (13:55) completed the sweep for Drew. Freshman Neelesh Kantheti also competed for the Rangers and placed eighth in 14:44.
 
The Rangers are now off until Oct. 27, when they run in the Landmark Championship at Union Canal Tunnel Park in Lebanon, Pa.
