Balanced Effort Vaults Women's Hoops at PSU Berks

READING, Pa. - Sophomore forward Erin Frederick scored a career-high 20 points to lead a balanced scoring effort and the Drew University women's basketball team picked up an 86-74 road victory over non-conference foe Penn State Berks Tuesday evening. Four starters scored in double figures for the Rangers, who moved to 2-2 with the win, while Berks dropped to 0-4.

Turning Point: The Rangers trailed 51-48 with 6:09 left in the third quarter before catching fire, finishing the period on a 21-6 run open up a 12-point advantage (69-57) heading into the final stanza. The Lions were unable to stage a comeback in the fourth quarter, when the two sides played to a 17-all tie. PSB led 15-11 at the end of the first quarter before Drew outscored the hosts 27-22 in the second period to carry a one-point advantage (38-37) into the locker room.

Top Performers: Frederick's first career 20-point game came via an 8-for-16 shooting performance. Drew's starting backcourt had a big night, as sophomore Julia Ramos and senior Hailey Stine scored 18 points apiece. Ramos enjoyed a strong all-around game, posting career-highs in points, assists (eight), and blocked shots (four). In addition, freshman forward Sekya Campbell scored 13 points, junior guard Aly Axman grabbed a career-high six rebounds, and freshman forward Cecelia Kracht blocked three shots.

Stat Sheet: The Rangers shot a season-best 49.3 percent from the field, including 42.9 percent (11-for-16) from 3-point range. Penn State Berks' Kylie Herman led all players with 22 points.

Up Next: The Rangers are off until Thursday, Nov. 29, when they take on Centenary University at 7 p.m. in a non-conference game that will be played at the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown, N.J.
