MONTCLAIR, N.J. - The Drew University women's swimming & diving team opened the 2019-20 season by winning eight events in a 165-112 loss at Montclair State University Friday evening.

Katie Cashin and senior
Mal Vishwanath, who won three individual events apiece.
Cashin opened her career in style, touching first in the 1,000-freestyle (11:30.60), the 200-butterfly (2:13.70), and the 200-IM (2:16.70). In her first collegiate swim, she won by 28 seconds in the 1,000.
Vishwanath prevailed in the 200-freestyle (1:58.72), the 100-freestyle (55.20), and the 500-freestyle (5:28.70). She won by 22 seconds in the 500.
Sophomore
Sydney Everhart also claimed an individual victory for the Rangers, winning the 100-butterfly in 1:01.55.Â
Drew closed out the night by winning the 400-freestyle relay, as sophomore
Mackenzie Garcia Hynds, junior
Eve Morel, Cashin, and senior
Katie Jefferson touched in 3:53.01 for a 14-second victory.
The Rangers continue their season on Saturday, Oct. 19 when they host Landmark Conference foe Catholic University in their home opener.
