MADISON, N.J. - The Drew University baseball team jumped to a 7-2 lead, then held off a late rally as the Rangers held on for a 7-6 non-conference victory over William Paterson University Tuesday afternoon at a chilly Doc Young Field. Senior Jendy Castillo pitched five innings to pick up the win while classmate Jayson Mitch went 3-for-5 with three RBIs.

Highlights
• William Paterson (9-3) scratched out a run in the first before the Rangers (5-6) tied it in the second, when junior Jon Cocchio led off with a double and went on to score. 
• Drew went ahead for good with a two-run third, capped by an RBI-single from Cocchio that made it 3-1.
• The Rangers nudged their lead to three runs when Mitch singled home a run in the fourth. The Pioneers made it a 4-2 game in the fifth, but Drew opened up some breathing room with a three-spot in the bottom of the inning. Junior Max Felsenstein singled home a run before Mitch provided the big blow with a two-run single.
• The Pioneers scored four runs over the final three innings and had the go-ahead run on base in the ninth, but senior Davis Fouts induced a game-ending flyout.
 
Top Performers
• Castillo scattered five hits and allowed just two runs (one earned). He walked two and struck out two.
• Mitch's three hits and three RBIs were both career-highs. 
• Cocchio also had a big game at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and a double.
• Junior Brandon Radd and Fouts each tossed two innings of relief, with Fouts earning his second career save.
