MADISON, N.J. – The Rangers battled Franklin & Marshall College for 13 innings but came up on the short end of a 5-4 decision in non-conference baseball action Sunday afternoon at Doc Young Field. It was the second-straight extra-inning affair for the Rangers (7-7), who had six different pitchers combine to scatter 11 hits and just four earned runs. Drew defeated Haverford College 4-3 in eight innings to complete a doubleheader sweep of Haverford College on Saturday.

Highlights
• The Diplomats (13-4) assumed a 2-0 lead in the third against freshman
Grant Purpura. But that's all the visitors would get versus the Ranger starter, who went on to pitch six innings. He was backed by a defense that turned inning-ending double plays in both the third and fourth.
• F&M starter Matt Devlin walked the leadoff batter before retiring 11 in a row. However, the Rangers broke through in the sixth, scoring twice to tie the game. Both runs scored on an infield single from senior
Jayson Mitch, as the ball was thrown away at first.
• The Rangers tacked on two more runs in the seventh to open up a 4-2 lead. Junior
Matthew Lange and senior
Eric DiPietro stroked back-to-back one-out singles before junior
Brent Lincoln was hit with a pitch. Bosch drew a bases-loaded walk before DiPietro scored on a contested strike-three wild pitch.
• Franklin & Marshall tied it with two runs in the eighth versus senior reliever
Zach Luke. But the Rangers would blank the Diplomats from the ninth through the 12th, when senior
Harry Cohen tossed 3 2/3 scoreless innings.
• The Rangers had the winning run 90 feet away in the 12th, when Lange drew a leadoff walk and was bunted to second by DiPietro. Pinch runner
Brandon Radd moved to third on a groundout, but Don DiLoreto induced an inning-ending groundout. DiLoreto (3-0) tossed 6 2/3 innings of scoreless relief to earn the win.
• F&M pushed across the game-winning run on a two-out error in the 13th versus senior
Jendy Castillo (1-2), who was handed the loss. Diplomat catcher Danny Blugis then took the hill and earned the save.
