WAYNE, N.J. – The Drew University softball team lost both ends of a non-conference doubleheader at William Paterson University on Tuesday, falling by a 10-2 final in both games, which were each finished in five innings. Freshman
Paxtan Perry roped three hits on the day to lead the Rangers, who were taking on an opponent that improved to 11-3.
Game 1 Highlights
• The Rangers fell behind 2-0 in the first inning, and that's how the score would remain for most of the contest, as sophomore
Megan Hulmes blanked the Pioneers from the second through the fourth innings.
• Drew pulled even with a two-run fifth. Freshman MiKayla Sosa doubled home a run before eventually scoring on an error.
• William Paterson responded with eight runs in the bottom of the inning, bringing the mercy rule into effect.
Game 2 Highlights
• William Paterson built an early 6-0 lead in the nightcap, posting four runs in the second and two more in the third; however, only two of the hosts' runs during the stretch were earned.
• The Rangers answered with two unearned runs of its own in the fourth to cut the deficit to four. However, that's when the Pioneers answered with four in the fifth inning to set the final score.

Paxtan Perry went 2-for-3 with a double in the opener before adding another two-bagger in the nightcap.
• Sophomore
Sophie Sirota finished 2-for-2 in the second game.
• Hulmes (0-5) pitched all 4 2/3 innings in the opener and struck out one batter.
• Senior
Cara O'Leary (3-2) started the second game and worked 4 1/3 innings, and just two of the six runs she allowed were earned.
