Ninth-Inning Rally Vaults Baseball at Occidental

LOS ANGELES - Trailing 5-2 heading into the bottom of the top of the ninth, the Rangers rallied with four runs and went on to beat host Occidental College 6-5 on the second day of competition during their Spring Break trip to California. Junior Max Felsenstein singled in the go-ahead run and finished the day 3-for-4 with three RBIs.

By the Numbers
Drew pushed its record to 3-2 while the Tigers lost for just the second time this season, falling to 9-2.

Highlights
• The Rangers fell behind 2-0 early but tied it up in the third, when Felsenstein drilled a two-run double.
• Occidental went back ahead with three runs over the fourth and fifth innings, but senior reliever Davis Fouts blanked the Tigers in the sixth and seventh before senior Harry Cohen came on to throw a three-up, three-down eighth.
• Drew still trailed 5-2 and was down to its last out before senior Mike Pettigrew drew a walk to load the bases. Senior Jayson Mitch then ripped a two-run double before senior Zach Lipshitz beat out a grounder to short, bringing home the tying run. Felsenstein then lifted a single into run with what held up as the game-winning hit.
• Cohen returned to the hill for the bottom of the inning and got two quick outs before running into trouble. A hit batsman and a double put the go-ahead run into scoring position, but Cohen induced a game-ending groundout to second.

Top Performers
• Felsenstein tied his career-high for both hits and RBIs.
• Mitch finished 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs.
• Fouts yielded just one run on three hits and no walks in his three innings of relief.
• Cohen (1-0) picked up his first collegiate victory with the win.
