No. 10 Catholic Snaps Rangers’ Undefeated Start

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Rangers scored the first two goals of the game, but Catholic University responded with a 7-0 run to end the half and the 10th-ranked Cardinals earned a 15-5 victory to hand the Drew University women's lacrosse team its first loss of the season in a Landmark Conference (LC) tilt Saturday afternoon. Drew (12-0, 2-1 LC) had been just the second team to open a season 12-0.
 
Highlights

• Junior Allie DiDario struck just over two minutes into the game on a free-position goal before sophomore Charly Nolting followed up with another FPG to hand the Rangers a 2-0 lead with 25:10 remaining in the half.
• The Cardinals (8-3, 3-0 LC) answered with their big run, with Megan Ellis, Bridget Beck, and Ally Criscuolo scoring two goals apiece over the stretch.
• The Rangers snapped the run less than a minute into the second half, when freshman Hailey Simmons converted a feed from senior Mia Campanale to make it a 7-3 game. However, Catholic responded with a 4-0 run to push their advantage to eight (11-3) with 20:35 left, and the Rangers were unable to get closer than seven the rest of the way.
• DiDario also scored Drew's final two goals.

• DiDario netted three goals and finished 2-for-2 on free-position attempts.
• Junior Jenna Morelli notched three caused turnovers and three ground balls.
• Sophomore Kat Michalski made 16 saves, marking the second-highest total of her career.
 
Next Up
Drew picks up its schedule on Wednesday, when it hosts the University of Scranton at 4:30 p.m. in a non-conference outing.
