MADISON, N.J. - Seven different players scored a goal as Widener University handed the Rangers an 8-0 setback in non-conference field hockey action Wednesday evening in Ranger Stadium.
The Rangers (1-2) threatened early in the game, gaining a penalty corner less than two minutes into the contest. Sophomore
Carly Schiller then fired off a pair of quick shots from the left post, but both were turned aside by goalie Sabrina Roberto. The Pride would outshoot the Rangers 6-3 in the period, but that's when freshman
Bridget Kenny made three saves and it was a scoreless contest after one quarter of play.
The Pride (2-0) broke the game open with four goals in the second quarter. The visitors also tacked on two goals apiece in the third and fourth periods.
Kenny finished with eight saves over three quarters of play. Junior
Joie Slossar stopped a pair of shots while playing the third quarter.
The Rangers continue their season on Saturday when they visit Bryn Mawr College at 1 p.m. in another non-conference affair.
