MADISON, N.J. - The Drew University women's basketball team erased a 17-point second-half deficit, but the rally came up just short in a 75-69 loss to St. Joseph's-Brooklyn in a non-conference tilt Thursday afternoon in Baldwin Gym.
Sophomore forward
Sekya Campbell led the Rangers (8-3) with her second straight double-double, tying a career-high with 18 points and grabbing a career-high 16 rebounds. She also swiped five steals and blocked a pair of shots.
Junior center

Joey Meyers guard chipped in with 11 points and a season-high nine boards.
Kelly O'Connell scored 18 points to lead the Bears (6-4).
It was a 65-57 game with 5:49 left before the Rangers reeled off a 10-0 run to pull ahead. Four different players scored during the spurt, starting with a layup from sophomore forward
Lauren Cruse. Meyers then canned a 3-pointer before Frederick split a pair of free throws with 2:58 left, making it a two-point (65-53) game. Campbell nailed a pair of foul shots 34 seconds later to pull the Rangers even, then set up a Frederick lay-up that gave Drew its first lead (67-65) since midway through the second quarter.
St. Joseph's answered with a pair of big 3-pointers to go up 71-67 with 1:07 remaining. Ramos fed Frederick for another inside bucket with 56 ticks showing, but the Rangers missed their final four field-goal attempts while the Bears hit a pair of free throws and converted a fast-break lay-up down the stretch.
It was a close game throughout most of the first quarter until the visitors used a 7-1 run to open up a 19-12 lead with 23 seconds showing. Frederick dropped in a lay-up in the closing seconds to make it a 19-14 game heading into the second quarter.
A 3-pointer from sophomore guard
Brooke Timinski handed the Rangers a 27-26 lead with 5:15 left in the first half, but that's when the Bears raced to a 16-3 surge, opening up a 45-30 halftime advantage.
St. Joe's twice led by 17 early in the third quarter before Drew began to chip away. A 9-1 run reduced the deficit to single digits (50-41) with 5:22 remaining and the scoreboard read 57-49 heading into the final period.
Drew continues its three-game homestand on Saturday, when it takes on cross-town rival FDU-Florham at 1 p.m. in its final non-conference match-up of the regular season.
