FORT PIERCE, Fla. - The Drew University baseball team lost by a final of 6-3 to Lebanon Valley on the second day of its Spring Break trip to Florida on Monday.
Sophomore
Grant Purpura worked six innings on the mound for the Rangers (3-3) and tied a career-high with seven strikeouts.Â
The Dutchmen never trailed after scoring twice in the top of the second. Drew answered with a run in the bottom of the inning before LVC scored in the third to go up 3-1.
The Rangers tied it with two runs in the fifth, which included a double from senior
Max Felsenstein and a single from senior
Matthew Lange. But the Valley tacked on single runs in the sixth, seventh and ninth while dodging several Drew rallies. The Rangers loaded the bases in the sixth and eighth and also had the leadoff man on base in the ninth.
Purpura (0-1) allowed four runs on seven hits before junior
Kyle Tamburri tossed the last three innings, yielding two runs on four hits while striking out one.
Drew continues its trip on Tuesday, when it takes on Houghton at noon.
