Rangers Tie 3-Point Mark, Cruise by Gwynedd Mercy at Lycoming Tournament

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - The Drew University women's basketball team used some torrid outside shooting to earn an 82-50 victory over Gwynedd Mercy College on the first day of the Lycoming College Hoops for Hounds Tournament Wednesday evening.

The Rangers connected on 16 3-point shots, tying the school record set in the team's 84-50 win over Penn State-Lehigh Valley on Nov. 13, 2015.

Drew improved to 9-0 on the season and has now equaled the program's best start since 2009-10.

The Rangers will now face Lycoming on Thursday at 2 p.m. in a tournament that consists entirely of predetermined opponents. William Paterson defeated Lycoming 58-55 in the other first-round game.

Junior guard Katrina Wojtowicz led Drew's 3-point barrage, connecting on 7-of-11 from downtown en route to a career-high 21 points. Her seven treys are the fourth-most (tied) in team history and the most since Sam Lane C'17 hit eight in the aforementioned victory over Lehigh Valley.

Senior guard Brooke Timinski also had a huge night from beyond the arc, where she drained 5-of-10 on her way to a career-high 15 points.

Junior guard Joey Meyers and senior guard Sekya Campbell each contributed a double-double for the Rangers. Meyers posted 10 rebounds and a career-high 11 assists - just one shy of the school record - while Campbell netted 15 points and 11 rebounds. Senior center Erin Frederick tossed in 11 points and grabbed seven boards for the Blue and Green while junior guard Gwen Alberici hauled in a career-high nine rebounds.

The Rangers led just 17-16 at the end of the first quarter before opening up some breathing room in the second period, outscoring the Griffins 22-13 to assume a 10-point halftime lead. Drew then blew the doors open in the third quarter, outscoring Gwynedd Mercy 27-5. Drew nailed seven of its triples in the stanza, with the last six coming from Timinski and Wojtwowicz. Timinski scored nine straight points midway through the quarter before Wojtowicz drained a trio of 3's in the final two minutes.

The Rangers were not threatened in the fourth quarter, when they never led by less than 28.

Drew handed out 27 assists for the game, which ranks seventh (tied) in school history.
