All-Landmark Conference Women's Tennis Team

TOWSON, Md. - Three members of the Drew University women's tennis team have been selected to the All-Landmark Conference Team.

Freshman Melina Christodoulou earned first-team honors in singles and second-team recognition in doubles, and she was also honored as the Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year.

In addition, junior Marwa Elessawy earned second-team accolades in singles while sophomore Sanne Bloemendaal was a second-team selection in doubles.

Christodoulou becomes Drew's second Landmark Conference Women's Tennis Rookie of the Year, as Ashley Camel C'20 earned the same award in 2016-17. Over five matches, Christodoulou finished 4-1 in singles play and was 4-0 during the regular season. She opened the year playing at No. 2 singles and went 3-0 before going 1-1 at No. 1. 

In doubles play, Christodoulou teamed with Bloemendaal to finish 3-3 at No. 1. The pair went 2-2 during the regular season.

Elessawy captured her second career All-Landmark Conference award after also collecting second-team honors in singles during her freshman season in 2018-19. She finished the year 4-1 in singles action, going 3-0 at No. 3 and 1-0 at No. 4. She was a perfect 4-0 during the regular season and is now 16-13 for her career.

The Rangers finished the season 4-3 and reached the semifinals of the Landmark Conference Championship after defeating Susquehanna University 5-2 in the semifinals.
