DISON, N.J. – The Drew University women's basketball team won its fourth game in a row to open the season, topping Saint Elizabeth University 74-46 in a non-conference matchup Tuesday evening in Baldwin Gym.
The Rangers (4-0) received another big performance from senior guard
Joey Meyers. The reigning Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week posted 19 points, a career-high 15 rebounds, and five assists over 28 minutes of action. Freshman guard
Madelyn Morgan added season-highs of 14 points and eight rebounds while junior forward
Gracie Hezel netted 12 points. Junior forward
Jamie Struble contributed 10 points and seven rebounds, and senior guard
Gwen Alberici distributed seven assists.
Destiny Battle scored 21 points to lead the Eagles (0-3).
Drew led for all but 30 seconds in the game. After Saint Elizabeth scored the game's first basket, the Rangers answered with a 20-1 run that spanned into the second quarter. The hosts led 32-6 before the Eagles scored 11 points over the last 4:19 of the half and Drew led 37-17 at the break.
The Rangers pushed their lead over 30 midway through the third quarter, and Saint Elizabeth was unable to get closer than 24 the rest of the way.
Drew continues its season on Saturday, when it visits William Paterson University at 1 p.m. in a non-conference match-up.
