MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University women's basketball team raced past Raritan Valley Community College 74-39 to earn its sixth consecutive victory Saturday afternoon in Baldwin Gym.
The Rangers (10-1) have now equaled last year's squad for the best start in team history through 11 games.
Thirteen different players found the scoring column for Drew, including senior guard
Joey Meyers, who posted 14 points, five rebounds, and seven assists. Senior guard
Gwen Alberici also netted 14 points while shooting a perfect 6-for-6 from the field and dishing out four assists. Sophomore guard
Izzy Lalo and freshman guard
Ryane Wood contributed eight points each while freshman guard
Madelyn Morgan grabbed seven rebounds.
Kerin Thomas scored 19 points for the Lions (5-7) while Makhia Robinson collected 13 rebounds.
The Rangers never trailed and outscored Raritan Valley 12-3 to open the game. A put-back from senior guard
Katrina Wojtowicz with a minute left made it an 18-8 game after the opening quarter.
Drew racked up 21 points and shot 63.6% in the second quarter to open up a 39-21 halftime advantage. Alberici scored nine of her points on 4-for-4 shooting in the stanza.
The Rangers held the Lions to seven points and 20.0% shooting in the third quarter, then put up another 21 points in the final period.
Drew is now off until Dec. 30, when it hosts Kean University in a non-conference affair starting at 7 p.m.
