SCRANTON, Pa. - After a historic season that began with a school-record 10-game winning streak, the Drew University women's basketball team saw their 2021-22 campaign come to an end on Wednesday with a 66-40 loss at top-seeded and 13th-ranked University of Scranton in the Landmark Conference semifinals.
The Rangers put up a valiant effort, but were unable to advance to what would have been their first ever Landmark Conference championship game. Meanwhile, the Royals have won 18 straight and will now face Catholic University this Saturday in the final.
Drew fell into an early 7-0 hole to start the game, as Scranton managed to grow and maintain its lead throughout all four quarters.
Abby Anderson was the top scorer for Scranton, scoring a third of their points with 20.
Though the Rangers got off to a slow start, eventually trailing 34-15 at halftime, they bounced back and outscored Scranton 29-26 in the second half. Junior guard
Joey Meyers scored eight points in the fourth quarter alone, going a perfect 4-for-4 from the field.
Meyers was Drew's leading scorer of the night with 12 points, while also leading the team in rebounds (eight) and steals (three).
In her final game as a Ranger,
Erin Frederick posted 10 points, including six in the third quarter. For her career, she finishes sixth in team history in scoring (1,363 points), ninth in rebounds (571), and third in blocked shots (121). She never missed a game in her career, starting 111 consecutive games over five years.

Cecelia Kracht blocked one shot for the Rangers to finish her career second in school history with 144 swats.
