BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Drew University women's tennis team began its Landmark Conference title defense on Saturday, earning a 7-2 conference victory at Moravian University.
The Rangers (4-1, 1-0 LC) swept the three doubles matches, then captured four of six singles contests en route to their 10th straight victory over a Landmark Conference opponent and their eighth consecutive Landmark Conference regular-season win.
Freshman
Sofiya Lebedeva, sophomore
Mary Kalorin, and seniors
Sanne Bloemendaal and
Danielle DelRosso earned two wins apiece for Drew.
In doubles action, the Rangers received wins from Lebedeva and Kalorin at No. 1 (8-1), Bloemendaal and junior
Melina Christodoulou at No. 2 (8-6), and sophomore
Courtney Bresler and DelRosso at No. 3 (8-5).
Lebedeva went on to earn a nearly flawless win at No. 1 singles, as she lost just five points in a 6-0, 6-0 victory. Kalorin won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 while Bloemendaal earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 4. DelRosso contributed with a three-set victory at No. 5, winning 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (11-9).
The Rangers continue their season next Saturday, when they host FDU-Florham in a non-conference match at 9 a.m. and Juniata College at 1 p.m. in a Landmark Conference affair.
