SCRANTON, Pa. – The Drew University baseball team lost its series opener at the University of Scranton on Friday, with the Royals capturing a 20-0 decision.

The Royals scored all of their runs from the third through sixth, including a nine-run fifth.

Ryan Jones doubled leading off the game for Drew (10-6, 1-3 LC) before starting pitcher
Raiden Yost blanked the Royals over the first two innings. But Scranton put up five runs in the third and three more in the fourth, then broke it open with their big fifth inning, which included a grand slam from Dan Crossan.

The hosts scored three more in the sixth before Drew closed out the game with shutout innings from senior
Joseph Caggiano in the seventh and freshman
Benjamin Cacoilo in the eighth.

Daniel Johnson tossed seven shutout innings for Scranton (9-6, 2-1 LC).

The same two teams close out their series on Sunday back at Scranton with a doubleheader starting at noon.
