MONTCLAIR, N.J. – The Drew University baseball team rallied with a five-run seventh inning to whittle a six-run deficit down to one, but the 22nd-ranked Red Hawks pulled away over the last two innings to hand the Rangers a 15-9 setback in a non-conference action Tuesday afternoon.

Ryan Jones finished 2-for4 with a triple and three RBIs for the Rangers (10-9) while classmates
John Furch and
Raiden Yost added two hits and one double each.

The Red Hawks (11-2) led 10-4 over the first five innings before Drew's big seventh. The Rangers scored all five of their runs with two outs, starting with an RBI-single by junior
Anthony Diaz. Freshman
Thomas Zammitti also singled in a run before Jones capped the big inning with a two-run triple.

Montclair State held off the rally, however, with three runs on two hits, two errors, and a walk in the eighth before tacking on two runs on two hits in the eighth.

Connor Ruscansky (0-1) and junior
TJ Shuman pitched two innings apiece for Drew while sophomore
Kenny Yonker tossed the last four innings.

The Rangers return to action on Thursday, when they host Saint Elizabeth University at 3 p.m. in a single non-conference game.
