WAYNE, N.J. –The Drew University softball team lost a pair of games to a 13-1 William Paterson squad in a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday.
The Pioneers won the opener 9-1 in five innings, then captured the nightcap 8-4.
In the first game, senior
Bailey Comeau blanked William Paterson over the first two innings before the Pioneers broke it open with a five-hit, six-run third. The hosts scored three more in the fourth before the Rangers got on the scoreboard in the fifth, when sophomore
Fran O'Kleasky doubled and scored on a single from sophomore
Teagan Bradley.
Freshman
Josie Di Troia also doubled for the Rangers. Comeau tossed all four innings, striking out four.
In the second game, the Pioneers jumped ahead early, leading 5-1 after three innings and 8-1 through five frames. Drew would not go quietly, however, scoring three runs over the last two innings. Sophomore
Mackenzie Pisani doubled home a run in the sixth before Di Troia ripped an RBI-single as part of a two-run seventh.
Di Troia finished 3-for-3 with a pair of runs scored in the second game while Pisani went 2-for-2. Senior
Brianna Seals (3-2) pitched a complete game, striking our four.
The Rangers play for the second day in a row on Wednesday, when they host Kean University in a non-conference doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
