WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Drew University men's tennis team topped Catholic University 6-3 on Sunday, rolling to its fourth straight Landmark Conference victory to start the season and its fifth straight win overall.
The Rangers (8-3, 4-0 LC) have now won 20 consecutive Landmark Conference regular-season matches dating back to the 2019 season.
Drew opened with a sweep in doubles play. Senior
Avi Perera and junior
Daryl Wong Li-Hom won 8-4 at No. 1, moving to 7-1 on the season with their sixth straight victory. Seniors
Leo Ambrogio and
Bret Schuler captured an 8-6 decision at No. 2 while senior
Dan Blumenthal and junior
Jack Polvere prevailed 8-7 (7-2) in a tiebreaker at No. 3.
The Rangers went on to split their six singles matches. Perera breezed to a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 2 for his fourth win in a row while Schuler outlasted his opponent at No. 5, winning 6-4, 6-7 (4-7), 10-7 to 8-3 with his fifth consecutive victory. Junior
Santo Carroccia contributed a 6-1, 6-1 triumph at No. 6 while pushing his winning streak to five while improving to 9-5.
Drew returns to the court on Saturday, when it visits Goucher College in a rematch of last year's Landmark Conference championship match starting at 1 p.m.
