Back-to-Back! Women’s Tennis Claims Second Straight Landmark Conference Title

MADISON, N.J. – Senior Sanne Bloemendaal clinched the match at No. 4 singles and the Drew University women's tennis team captured its second consecutive Landmark Conference title, topping Moravian University 5-1 on Saturday in the Simon Forum.

It was also the third Landmark Conference crown in team history and the fourth overall conference title for the Rangers (18-2), who have now won four more matches than any team in program history.

Drew will now receive an automatic berth in the NCAA Division III Championships, with the opponent and location of their first-round match to be determined.

Sophomore Mary Kalorin won at both No. 1 doubles and No. 3 singles and was honored as the tournament Most Valuable Player. She also earned victories at the same two spots in the team's 5-0 semifinal win over Scranton to finish 4-0 overall in the tournament.

The Rangers surged to a 2-1 lead after doubles play.  Kalorin and sophomore Sofiya Lebedeva opened with an 8-3 victory before sophomore Courtney Bresler and senior Danielle DelRosso earned an 8-4 win at No. 2 to make it 2-0. Moravian's Maddie Figiel and Cristina Merone won 8-6 at No. 3 doubles to make it 2-1.

Lebedeva followed up with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles before Kalorin registered a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 3. Bloemendaal provided the finishing touches with a 6-4, 6-4 triumph at No. 4.

With their doubles win, Kalorin and Lebedeva tied the single-season school record for doubles victories, set by Ashley Camel C'20 in 2017-18.
